History

Founded on Ifrit server in 2004, AlliedLinkshell emerged from another linkshell so exciting that none of us can quite remember what it was called. (I should pause here to say that if you don't know what a linkshell is, chances are you are really on the wrong website and I honestly can't imagine how the hell you got here. But, hey, nice to see you, now run along and download your German porn like you meant to do). While there were some cool members of this old linkshell, there was also a disturbing trend by many of the higher level members to constantly make fun of new players and, on occsion, even purposely cause their deaths by training mobs to newbie camps.

After awhile, a few of us got fed up with this behavior and decided to leave and form our own linkshell. After some totally pointless dithering, Pokeyzedd (now retired, but then known as the much more impressive Deusond) purchased a new linkshell and, after hours wracking his brain, came up with the awesomely creative name TheLinkshell. He then handed out his first pearl to Almont, and TheLinkshell was born.

Joining Pokeyzedd and Almont from the old linkshell was Vhess, soon followed by Nexious and Pappuyapu. It was a good long while before any new members were added, but eventually the extreme xenophobia and general fear of interaction was overcome and a new group of members accepted pearls, the first to do so from outside the old linkshell: Hermitjoe, Akuryu and Vaughnn.

Since that time several new pearls have been given out, and some of them have even been given to people who aren't total clowns; unfortunately, those people left. Those who remain are, however, proud to be members of AlliedLinkshell, and many of our members are either friends or family in real life, if any such thing actually exists.

Following Deusond's departure from FFXI, we were surprised to discover that our link pearls still functioned as normal, but also concerned that they might cease to function one day. A new linkshell was purchased by Almont and, after discussion among the members, TheLinkshell was re-christened as AlliedLinkshell, the name decided upon both from a nostalgic attachment to our original 'shell name and also from our history of creating relationships to other linkshells across Ifrit whose members we frequently allied with in order to complete Rank missions and regional or personal quests.

The concept of allying with other groups in order to partcipate in activities which neither group would be able to do on its own has been one of our core ideals since our inception (along with a deep love and respect for cheese). Our current membership continues this concept, enjoying participation in Dynamis raids and battles against the Gods of Sky with associated linkshell groups.

Ok, so, you've looked around? And you still want to join AlliedLinkshell? Well, frankly, that's odd, because as far as I know the only people who would care enough to even come to this site are already members, so what the hell are you talking about? But, alright, fine, I'll humor you. There's really no way for you to join unless someone offers you a pearl (duh), so you'll have to find someone with a pearl and then they'll have to decide you should become a member. This is what is known as the "Random Method" of initiation.

Like many linkshells we maintain a preliminary recruitment period for new members so that we can get to know you...And, you know, properly guage your level of sanity. Feel free to peruse our official Linkshell Membership rules at this location on our forums, and contact a sackholder for information. The members of AlliedLinkshell who are sackholders (uh... you know what I mean... I mean, really, everyone holds sack from time to time, it's totally natural...) are, Almont, Inia, Konoruck, and Xianra.
